My BMT story // Tuesday 16 February 2010

A story which can never forget or shell never forget.

Every servicemen who once served in National Service has its own story to tell, including me. What I'm gonna tell you guys out there, is about life in BMT...

Ok, here's my story,

On June 6th 2008

That's the day I enlisted to NS, being a total civilian to a soldier was a great start for me, as I was plaump at that time, so I'm thinking this is my chance to do my physical training and get into shape. Anyway, we all enlistist were gathered at Pasir Ris to board our bus to SAF Terminal, where the Ferry ferries us to Pulau Tekong, at Pasir Ris, Me and family, queing at the bus interchange waiting, I see different types of people for all walks of life, from Ah Beng to typical Malays, we all gonna be soon to be same people, all gonna be "Botak"(Bald), and staying into the same bunk. And so, we reach to Tekong, we all the pledges done and such, then we eat at the CookHouse, I can still remember that we ate Nasi Briani for lunch, then after, our families left us and we report to our respective companies.

I was known to report to "Kestrel" Company, before we go to our respective COYs (meaning companies), we collected our duffle bags and stuff and marched to our respective coys, and soon we all reported to Our coy with our heavy bags and stuff.

The 2 weeks of confinment

Hahahah, I first few weeks after enlistment, we gonna have a good time with each other all in one company for 15-weeks.I remembered I was in Platoon 2 and was Section 2, we were given such "4D"
numbers, its useful for your whole BMT course. Anyway, mine was 2209 to exact, and for the whole 2 weeks of confinment, well... It went well, we all(my section mates) get along well with each other, we ice-braking with each other so on. At that time, our hairs, some were short, and some were long, but hell yeah the day after that, we had our hair cut into 4 by 2. And yeah, at that time, all were darn fatty bom-boms, including me.

Our OC in BMT (Kestrel Coy)
We also get to know our OC (Officer Commanding), well man, I can tell you guys that, you guys can never find an OC in the whole BMTC schools, he never scolds us in a harsh manner, but gives us Push-ups everytime he was there, and when we had a training, wow, we had his style of training, super-intensive seh, but was worth it. I can still remember the only OCPT (OC-Physical Training) we had, wow, super "keisiao", we had jogged quite far, some more its in the night time, so ran to the destination to the stadium near to our coy, and I was grasping for air trying but I kept running till I reach the destination. And I saw him running, NO, he was sprinting to the cluster and was catching up with the few Last people running down. He was darn fast I can say. He done almost everything sui2 , cool lah sey. He was my best Commander ever. I could never forget his words after we POPed, that was "Tough times never last. But tough Men do."

Through those tough moments

Well, we all had our moments, weather it was personal or not, we all went through it, we all trained together, eat together, sleep together, as well as bath together in a toilet. Even though, I don't like my Platoon very much, but I cherish those beautiful moments when I was with them. And even though they "Kutok" me, well what to do right? Just have to face it lah, "Bo Pian Mah". Some even say I ate a lot, and so I was frustrated until I ate less everytime, till today I did the same. But everything I did in the BMT, Alhamdulillah thank Allah, it was really worth it, it gave the confidence to become fit and slim.

The Honourable P.O.P deserved

Our POP(Pass Out Parade), was the greatest thing a recruit wanting to have, released from all the training and everything, but its just the beginning, especially me. Haha...
